Day by day

The itinerary

1. Day 1 · Airport → Dambulla → Sigiriya

   Met at arrivals, then north to the golden cave temple of Dambulla. If your flight lands early enough, climb Pidurangala Rock for the view across to Sigiriya, then unwind in the evening with a traditional Ayurvedic massage.

   Approx. 4 hrs drive

   
2. Day 2 · Sigiriya Rock and Minneriya safari

   Climb the rock fortress in the cool morning, then take an afternoon jeep safari at Minneriya or Kaudulla, wherever the elephants are.

3. Day 3 · Sigiriya → Kandy

   South through the hills to Kandy. Make a flower offering at the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a traditional Kandyan dance show in the evening.

4. Day 4 · Kandy → Weligama

   Down to the south coast, the longest drive of the trip. Visit the Handunugoda Tea Estate near Ahangama to learn about Sri Lanka's tea-making traditions and taste its famous Virgin White Tea, made from the youngest, unopened buds and processed without human hands touching the leaves. In the evening, a boat safari on Koggala Lagoon.

5. Day 5 · Weligama

   A day by the sea, your way: scuba diving, a surf lesson in the gentle waves of Weligama Bay, or simply relaxing on the beach.

6. Day 6 · Weligama → Galle → Bentota

   Visit the Yatagala rock temple or the Japanese Peace Pagoda above Unawatuna, then walk the lanes and ramparts of Galle Fort. Further up the coast, take a boat safari on the Madu River and visit a turtle hatchery and conservation centre before the night in Bentota.

7. Day 7 · Bentota → Colombo

   Up the coast to Colombo for a city tour, including Independence Square, Gangaramaya Temple and the iconic Lotus Tower.

   Approx. 1.5–2 hrs drive

   
8. Day 8 · Colombo → Airport

   An easy transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your flight home.
