Who we are

JEMS Travels & Tours ("we", "us") is a private driver and tour company based in Homagama, Sri Lanka. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you plan or book a trip with us, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to plan and run your trip:

• Your name and contact details, such as your WhatsApp number, phone number and email address.
• Trip details you choose to share: travel dates, the number of travellers and their ages, vehicle preferences, interests and any notes, for example dietary or mobility needs.
• Arrival and pickup details, such as flight numbers and where you are staying, so your driver can meet you.
• Records of the payments you make to us.

How we collect it

You share these details with us directly, by WhatsApp, phone or email. The "Plan my trip" form on this website does not send your answers to us or store them anywhere: it prepares a WhatsApp message, and you decide whether to send it.

When you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp (Meta) handles your messages under its own privacy policy.

How we use your information

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote and itinerary.
• To run your trip, including sharing the details your driver needs to meet and look after you.
• To arrange train seats, safari jeeps and other services on your behalf.
• To keep records we are required to keep by law, for example for tax and accounting.

Who we share it with

We share your details only with the people who need them to deliver your trip: your driver, and providers such as train or safari operators when we book on your behalf, who receive only what they need. We never sell your information, and we do not send marketing messages unless you ask us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your messages and booking details for as long as we need them to plan your trip and deal with any questions afterwards, and in any case no longer than two years after your trip, unless the law requires us to keep records such as payments for longer.

This website, cookies and third parties

This website does not use cookies for analytics or advertising. To understand how the site is used, we run our own privacy-friendly statistics: we record which pages are viewed, which buttons and links are clicked, how far down a page you scroll, the website that sent you here, your country and your type of browser and device. We do not store your IP address, we store nothing on your device, and nothing you type into the Plan my trip form is recorded. Each visitor is counted under an anonymous code that changes every day, so we cannot recognise you on a later visit or tell who you are. These statistics stay on our own server and are never sold or shared.

All photos, fonts and pages are served from our own website. Only two things involve other companies:

• The map on our contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies when it loads.
• Links to WhatsApp, Tripadvisor and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Keeping your information safe

We take sensible steps to protect your information and limit who can see it. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so please do not send us full card numbers or passport scans unless we ask for them.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop using it. Contact us using the details below and we will reply within 30 days. If you live in the UK or the European Union, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

We collect information about children only when a parent or guardian shares it to plan a family trip, such as their ages.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
